With fast-paced moves and adrenalin-packed matches, the sand was set to fly as Watergate hosted the UK’s best volleyball players in an epic summer showdown. Here’s who is joined us down on the shoreline court…

The Bello bros

When it comes to duos; they don't get more dynamic than the Bello brothers. Ranked No. 1 in the UK, Javier and Joaquin, have established themselves as a volleyball force to be reckoned with – up there in the top 50 teams in the world. Debuting on the volleyball scene in 2016, and now only at 23 years old, the brothers already boast six World Tour medals, Commonwealth bronze, four-straight British Championships, and a 5th place in their European Championship debut.

Power players

Alongside this powerful pair, Harry Jones – an experienced English international with plenty of silverware earned across the national and world stage – joined the roster. His accolades include winning the Weymouth Grand Slam, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the UK Beach Tour.

Representing the ladies, Martha Bullen took her place on the female team with impressive national and international experience representing her country at many tournaments as a junior and beyond. And all the way from Aotearoa comes Alice Zeiman, a force to be reckoned with and gaining ground on the World beach volleyball scene. Currently representing the National New Zealand team, Alice Zeimann and her partner were one title away from qualifying for the Paris Olympics. Her accolades are coming 4th at the Commonwealth Games, and countless podium positions on the World Tour and Asian Championships.

Weekend action

The tournament kicked off on the Saturday, and spectators invited to watch the high-octane action unfold over the weekend of 2&3 August, with professional commentators, good tunes, low-slung deck chairs and volleyball-based activities throughout the weekend.

Alongside the court action, Friday saw Deep Dish Beach volleyball offering ‘give it a go’ sessions to local schools and colleges. And on Friday and Sunday, anyone who wanted to try their hand at the sport could book a free learn-and-play session with the coaches.

Oceanflow Yoga will lead a vinyasa flow on the sand at Watergate Bay, headphones on, music up and 200+ people moving together by the sea. All abilities welcome.

English National Surfing Championships

Surfing England returns to Watergate Bay for the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships. Longboard and SUP event.

Summer Social

Hit the sand for a free to attend summer social silent disco from 5-7pm. Dance to the beat of the waves, sip sundowners and fill up on local street food as the light dances on the ocean.
